Anglesea Phantoms - The Movie
"Quietly installed by moonlight at 12 locations throughout Anglesea by a posse of anonymous artists, anglesea phantoms was inspired by Melbourne writer Michelle Wright's novel "Small Acts of Defiance" and the *Phantom Queen's* desire to bring artists and the community together to celebrate creativity and place. Defying the usual practice of naming the artists involved, and the idea that art should be found inside the walls of the white-box gallery space, the works have brought unexpected delight to hundreds of people across the Shire over the last weeks and have inspired a fabulous response from emerging local writers and musicians as well. Council is proud to partner with the phantoms to support the production of a video of the project, which will document how artists representing multiple art forms have been drawn together to celebrate the unique spirit of Anglesea in their work." Extract from Surf Coast Art Matters Newsletter anglesea phantoms 22 September - 3 October 2021 ... how a group of artists and a community responded to yet another lockdown!
